The real question is what kind of fleet wash system should your company invest hundreds or has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in.  The capital cost and potential maintenance burden are significant, so it becomes very crucial to make the right decision.  The industry is full of companies who have had to replace already expensive fleet wash systems.  Once again, this creates risk; everybody selling a system says their system is the best, so whose do you try?

Obviously, we’re not alone in saying that we sell service.  Everyone says it these days.  It’s almost a requirement to say it.  Many vendors even say that they want to be, or are, your partners.  So what makes DyChem different?  The difference is that DyChem is quite simply the only provider of fleet wash systems that emphasizes and provides the whole package.

How can we say that?  Because all of our competitors primarily are “equipment based” companies selling equipment.  They are not true “chemical companies” and that’s where the difference lies.  Our system applies low pressure chemical application creating a “hydro-shock” followed by a high impinging rinse, cleaning the vehicle without the use of incredibly complicated equipment.

Our competition make good profits on that equipment and they charge their customers to maintain it, at a profit.  There’s nothing wrong with that--everyone is entitled to make a profit.  But, make no mistake; they are in the business of selling equipment.  They have made the most substantial part of their profits as soon as the equipment is sold to you.  What comes after the sale--the quality of the wash service--becomes a distant second in importance to making equipment sales.

DyChem, on the other hand, felt that it should be our responsibility to pay for the wash equipment and its maintenance, so that we could focus on guaranteeing the primary objective of a high quality wash at a consistent price.  DyChem decided that there was an important need for a provider who would bear the cost and risk of equipment performance in exchange for a genuine long-term relationship with the customer seeking a truly clean seamless washing system.

Having decided that we didn’t want to be a “me too” organization, making a quick buck selling equipment, we set out to develop the best possible formulations, together with carefully balanced hardware for delivery.  This was particularly important because we knew that our customers would not remain with us if we didn’t deliver something really special.  We faced three challenges:

  1. The equipment had to be extremely reliable because DyChem, not the customer, was to be responsible for the capital cost and all on-going maintenance.  More importantly, if the customer’s equipment goes down, they don’t wash and we can’t sell product;

  2. We recognized that we would be required to create highly specialized chemicals which, combined with the hardware, would provide dramatic results without the use of brushes.  That was a problem because effective chemicals were not then available; and

  3. Finally, because all customers deserve fast “on-the-spot” service if problems do arise, we recognized that we would also have to create and hire a network of trained technical support representatives.

With these factors in mind, we succeeded in developing a unique chemical delivery system to wash fleets, with an even more unique combination of formulations.
